I felt that the mechanics used in the game were solid and I rarely found bugs. Add a “Should I really use my light?” Element that the other Freddy game misses since the flashlight has always protected you. Although the breathing mechanic was frustrating for some, I found it to be a nice change of pace in the game. Sometimes the door mechanism is a bit brutal for some people, you have to listen at the door and decide to hide in the dark behind the door or shine your flashlight in the corridor. If you spend too much time in one door, it’s likely that another animatronic has entered your room through the other door. Except here you are limited not by power but by time. The only mechanic that keeps your robot friends out of your room is the “door” mechanic, similar to the first game. A single flash of light at the wrong time can cause the animatronics to feast on you, guaranteeing a GAME OVER screen and the need to change your pants. In Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, your flashlight is not only your savior, but also your downfall. The game is somewhat more difficult for most people to play due to its “breathing” mechanic, an interesting twist on the formula that has been in the Five Nights series since the beginning.
